So naming your file something like pc_08_custom, and then naming other ones pc_08a_custom, pc_08b_custom, etc. I'm assuming using the same name designates it as a variation. I need to figure out why variations work but not several with different names. The strange thing is I could change the colors of the first portrait and use the variations along with the original. Adding more made the game go black on the character creation screen.
I was only able to add 1 custom portrait. You do it in the order of, , (you enter this part into the text column) You insert the bytes at the end of the file. It's not really a problem since you can manually set those.

The settings for skin color, hair style/color,beard type/color, horns will be the default(I haven't figured out how to change it's presets). When you load up the game and create a new character you'll find your new portrait at the end of the list(to the left of the default face). Then insert another 26 bytes and enter the filename. pc_elffemale_08_cherrybomb.png is 26 characters long, so put 1A.

The second byte is the length of the full filename(without the extension).
The first byte is Unknown(not sure what it actually means)but 0A for the first byte works. I changed the name to pc_elffemale_08_cherrybomb.png to put it in the same format as the other PC portraits. In my example I'm adding npc_elffemale_cherrybomb.png from the dead man switch campaign.
